I'm a Storyteller at Heart, Y'all.
It's no surprise I have a degree in journalism. I've always been a talker (still am, fair warning)! Documentary photography just clicked.
Two hundred-plus weddings later, I'm still doing the same thing: telling your story with the camera, so when you open your gallery five or 10 or 30 years from now, you don't just see what happened. You feel it. The smell of your bouquet, the sound of your dad's laugh, the song that played during your first dance. All of it.
Not paying attention to every single thing, interrupting a moment and yelling "look this way," and missing big AND small moments.
I'm NOT ABOUT:
Great customer service, excellent communication (and availability for it), and an attention to detail superpower.
I BELIEVE IN:
I'm watching the light all day, indoors and out, because light is the whole game and I want your gallery to feel consistent from getting ready to the last dance. And mostly, I'm scanning. Always scanning. You never know when the best moment is going to happen, but I've seen enough weddings that I can usually feel one coming a few seconds before it does. That's the job, and I love every second of it.
On your wedding day, I'm your time leader. When a bride yells "what time is it?!" I always say "time for you to not worry about it. I got you." I'm a step ahead all day. I clear the bra off the bed before getting-ready shots. There are extra boutonniere pins in my bag because someone's always going to need one. Grandma gets tracked through the whole day so she's not missing from family portraits. And I keep a running headcount so I'm (hopefully!) catching every guest, not just the same fun ones twice.
